Knysna boasts a host of attractions… the famous ‘Heads’, safe bathing in the lagoon and the stunning scenery of the surrounding forests.

Our chic & popular ‘Waterfront’ boasts a splendid array of restaurants & shop & is the perfect spot for sundowners & oysters as you take in the spectacular Knysna sunset.Take a stroll to Thesen Island for astounding views across the lagoon & take a peek at the endangered Knysna Seahorses in our National Parks office.

The town centre is steeped in historic buildings, churches & museums & is a ‘stones throw’ from Jembjo’s, while the picturesque Pledge Nature Reserve presents pretty easy walking trails. Knysna also boasts 3 shopping malls, a local African arts & crafts market & 2 world famous golf courses – Pezula & Simola

For the adventurer in you, Knysna’s range of activities is sure to keep you busy. There are various boat trips available, to the Featherbed Nature reserve, cruises through the’ Heads’ for whale & dolphin watching & leisure trips on the lagoon. Nature lovers can venture into the Knysna Forest for mountain biking & to explore the hiking trails, where you might be lucky enough to encounter one of the elusive Knysna elephants. Visit the Garden of Eden to learn about the indigenous trees & fynbos of the Garden Route area.

Our township tours offer great insight into the day to day lives of our local communities, while a visit to South Africa's largest Rastafarian community is not to be missed.

Energetic water enthusiasts just love to try some surfing & stand-up paddle boarding at nearby Buffalo Bay,where sand-boarding is also on offer or try snorkelling the ship-wreck at the ‘Heads’. Canoeing & kloofing can be arranged in the scenic Goukamma River.A little further afield, less than 30 minutes away, then a trip to Noetzie or Plettenberg Bay for a day on one of our spectacular beaches is an absolute ‘must’. Plettenberg Bay is also the destination for a skydive, while Wilderness offers paragliding.

Visits to Knysna Elephant Park, Monkeyland, Birds of Eden, Tenikwa cheetah sanctuary or Jukani make an ideal family day out & head to Storms River mouth for fast & furious 'tubing' or in the nearby Tsistikama National Park, experience the canopy tree top tour for zip-lining. For the youngsters, then Plett Puzzle Park, the Wolf Sanctuary & Adventure land are sure to keep them entertained & exhausted.

Calling all adrenalin junkies...Further down the track, is the world’s highest bridge bungee jump at Bloukrans Bridge, while Mossel Bay hosts White shark cage diving. Not to be missed is the day trip through the stunning Outeniqua mountain range to Oudtshoorn for Ostrich riding, a visit to the wildlife ranch & the famous Cango Caves.
